Gloucester is an ancient city with a magnificent medieval cathedral and cloister, as well as being a lively modern town.

The historic docks have been impressively restored to include various museums, shops and cafes.

The city is situated in the Severn Vale, between the Royal Forest of Dean and the Cotswold Hills, famous for their picturesque, stone villages. It is well placed for a wide variety of interesting excursions.
