Shrewsbury, the county town of Shropshire, is a delightful old town, picturesquely situated in a bend of the River Severn. 

It has a wealth of historic buildings, including a castle and many half-timbered and Georgian houses, as well as several interesting museums. 

Shrewsbury is surrounded by lovely countryside and is only a short distance from the Welsh border.
